HOW WE MET:
I first met G on the Isle of Wight where we both grew up. From the moment I saw him, I was mesmerised. He was playing a gig at the Kasbah one evening which I was fortunate enough to walk into… Tall, dark and handsome…whilst SINGING and playing a guitar! Need I say anymore. I followed his music and decided to spark up conversation. One stumbling kebab walk home later and that was that. I had him hooked.
OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY:
It was Gareths 33rd birthday and to celebrate we went to Chester. I took my degree in Chester and called it home for 3 years, the place was always special, however I had no idea how special it was about to become.
We spent the day wandering around the Christmas market, drinking mulled wine and whisky, stuffing our faces with pork roast and roasted chestnuts. For the evening we got glammed up and went to my husbands favourite restaurant. The plan was to eat and spend an evening drinking in lavish cocktail bars before walking the walls back home. However, after a very already gluttonous day, once I had demolished my dinner, I was feeling rather full and under the weather. So we decided to skip the cocktails and head back to our hotel. Gareth, now in panic as I had thrown off his plan multiple times (without knowing obviously) throughout the day, was quick thinking and asked if we could still walk the long way back over the walls, to which I agreed. We walked along the walls in the moonlight, gazing at the christmas lights decorating the city. We reach a tower which was illuminated with spotlights on the ground. Me being my mature self, hovered my face over one of the lights and pulled a haunting face at my beloved. He laugh to humour me and pulled out his phone to take a photo. Initially he took it from standing but the advised me it would look better from a lower angle. I held my haunting face, clueless, waiting for the photo. My husband played the photographer roll well, snapping away, he then asked me to “hold this” passing me a small black box. At first I had no idea what I was holding, but then the reality of it began to sink in. From then it was an excited blur and rush of emotions that went a little like this: “what’s this? Are you joking? No, this really isn’t funny if you are joking!? BABE! What’s happening.”
OUR WEDDING LOCATION/THEME:
We chose to have a Staffordshire Wedding, close to our home in Derbyshire. In a small town called Leek in a beautiful rustic award winning barn called The Ashes Barns. We kept our wedding very rustic with the Bridesmaids wearing colourful pastel dresses with the gents in Harris tweed.
